Voter turn-out in Marshall County for the May Primary was low at only 10.35%.  Of the 29,491 registered voters, only 3,052 declared their party and selected their candidates for the General Election in November.

The Republican ballot in Marshall County only had two races.  Four challengers were vying for the County Commissioner seat in District 1.  Kurt West Garner was successful with 824 votes or 34.32% of the votes gathered.  The other candidates were Heath A Thornton at 631 votes, Stanley Klotz with 532 votes and Steve C. Engel with 414 votes. 

Republican voters in Green, West and Union Townships voted Bill Githens for the County Council District 2 seat.  Githens received 335 votes while Joyce Greeson gathered 327 votes, a difference of only 8 votes. 

Democrats only had one race on the ballot for the primary.  In Marshall County Joe Bock gathered 260 votes while Dan Morrison received 123, Bob Kern 81 and Douglas Carpenter 48.
