Monday night just after 10 a car was struck by a train on Redwood Road north of 1st Road. 

County Officer Rob Hafke said the 2001 Honda 4-door was southbound on Redwood north of 1st Road when it crashed into the railroad tracks consequently getting stuck on the tracks. 

The registered owner told Officer Hafke that a friend, 30 year old Malory Schumacker of North Liberty got the vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks and then fled the scene. 

The registered owner attempted to get the vehicle off the tracks but an east bound train was approaching and she exited the vehicle. 

The train was unable to stop and struck the vehicle. 

The driver, Malory Schumacker was arrested for Operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
