American Containers, Inc., which has its corporate headquarters and primary manufacturing facility in Plymouth, is moving forward with their expansion plans as initially announced last November.

As a part of the expansion, the company is purchasing approximately $3 million in new manufacturing equipment, and constructing a 39,000 sq. ft. building addition.  The addition will add warehousing space and allow for the reconfiguration of the production area to accommodate the new equipment.

Marshall County Economic Development Corporation has assisted the company in applying for and receiving a personal property tax abatement for the new equipment last year.  Last month they continued to assist American Container will filing a real property tax abatement request.  The Plymouth City Council approved a 10 year real property tax abatement supporting their approximate $1.5 million building expansion.

As previously reported, the expansion project is expected to begin early this spring as the beginning of the construction season opens up.  The project will add approximately 6 new employees to American Container’s current workforce of 47 associates.
