03/10/14 The Marshall County Republicans will host their annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Tuesday, March 18th.  The event will be held at Christo’s Banquet Center with a social hour at 5:30 and the family style dinner to begin at 6:30.

Special guest speaker for the evening is Representative Jackie Walorski.   A native Hoosier, born and raised in South Bend, Jackie attended Riley High School and graduated with a BA from Taylor University. While serving her first term in Congress, Jackie remains committed to using Hoosier common sense in Washington to create more jobs and pave a brighter future for our children.

Jackie started her career as a TV reporter and later worked as a Development Director to raise funds for local colleges and universities. As the daughter of a South Bend firefighter, Jackie learned the value of hard work at a young age. Her parents also owned a small business, an appliance repair store, located just around the corner from her childhood home.

Shortly after marrying her husband Dean, a Mishawaka schoolteacher, Jackie and Dean moved to Romania. While in Romania, they founded their own agency and local foundation to help provide much-needed medical supplies to the country’s impoverished children.

After returning home, Jackie was elected to her first of three terms in the Indiana House of Representatives in 2004. She rose quickly to leadership, becoming the Assistant Floor Leader for the Republican Caucus.

In the State Legislature, Jackie developed a reputation as an independent voice in the fight to lower taxes and eliminate wasteful government spending. She was first elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2012, where she currently serves on the House Armed Services, Veterans’ Affairs, and Budget committees.
