02/18/14 Keeping Indiana’s school systems running smoothly and efficiently is vital to the education of our students.

Due to a protected levy, schools in Indiana have experienced shortfalls in their transportation funds. In order to keep our schools performing at an optimal level, it is important that they get relief.

State Senator Randy Head said, “That’s why I have authored Senate Bill 163, which allows schools with at least a 20-percent deficit in their transportation fund to spread the lagging revenue‘s impact across other funds.”

For some schools, these gaps in revenue jeopardized school attendance and graduation rate.

Senator Head closed by saying, “My hope is that SB 163 will provide the necessary assistance those schools need to keep their buses running.”
