10/11/13 The group “Jasper Stone Band” which is based out of The Plymouth Wesleyan Church and drew such a large crowd on Gospel Saturday, was selected to open for the Jeremy Camp concert in Fort Wayne later this month.  Jeremy is a nationally known Contemporary Christian music singer.

Jasper Stone was in a national competition and won.  Bands were asked to send demos to Jeremy for a chance to win a contest and open for him.  All of the demos were listened to and the top eight were picked.  The public was then able to go online and vote for their favorite and after listening to the demos.  The top three vote getters were listened to by Jeremy’s music director, who made the final decision.

The Jasper Stone Band, consists of seven members, five of whom graduated from Plymouth High School, one who graduated from LaVille High School and one who is a transfer from Ohio, who met some of the other band members because they attend Taylor University, in Upland, Indiana together.  Members are Josh Casper, Jerry Cox, Heather Pickerell Delp, Christen Ellis, Marc Greenawalt, Joel Hartung and Dave Portieus.

The group will perform in Fort Wayne on Saturday, October 19th as the opening act for Jeremy Camp at the First Assembly of God Church. The church is located at 1400 West Washington Center Road and seats 2,000.  Tickets are $25 for general admission, with 6-12 year old being $5.00 and 5 and under are free.  If you purchase your tickets in advance from the Jasper Stone band, they receive half of the ticket proceeds.  The money they receive will help them record a new CD.  Tickets are available by contacting Heather Delp at 574-360-3677 or emailing the Band at jasperstoneband@gmail.com
