08/12/13 The Membership of LaPaz –North Township Fire Department is excited to announce the receipt of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security Foundation Grant. 

The LaPaz Fire Department will receive up to $4,000.00 to purchase a K-12 rescue saw and Blades and a Plastic cribbing set to be utilized on auto extrication incidents. 

Fire Chief Chris Oginsky said, “With the high abundances of homes receiving metal roof this new saw will allow us to more effectively cut our ventilation holes, cut through fences, concrete, grain bins and the list goes on and on.”   He continued, “The lighter weight Plastic Cribbing set will replace the old wooden blocks we have these new Plastic Blocks will lock in together making our operations much safer for us and the victims.” 

Oginsky said, “None of this would be possible without the help of our grant writing team Captain; Chad Robertson and Firefighter Chelsea Smith and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security Foundation.”

This grant is made possible from the revenue from “Secure Indiana” license plate sales funds the Indiana Homeland Security Foundation, The Foundation, one of the first of its kind in the nation, offers financial support for critical public safety needs across Indiana.

The Foundation funds public safety projects at the local level. Local public safety organizations in your communities are eligible to apply for projects such as equipping emergency responders with personal protective equipment, acquiring equipment for use by emergency responders, and training for emergency responders
