08/05/13 The Plymouth School Board will hold a project hearing followed by a regular school board meeting on Tuesday, August 6 in the Administration Board Room. The hearing will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be followed by the regular meeting at approximately 7:15 p.m.

The purpose of the project hearing is to receive testimony or questions concerning the renovation of and/or improvements to facilities within the Plymouth School Corporation. Indiana law requires that projects being considered at a cost in excess of $1 million are subject to a public hearing.

The project being considered is a safety and security program for the 2013-2014 school year. Listed as immediate needs are tied into student transportation including: Angel Trax Camera System; Z pass (K-6 students); and bus check-mate system. The proposal is estimated at a cost of $92,500. A second portion of the project is listed under Visual Management/Physical Security. The proposed cost for a Raptor Visitor ID System (active database check for criminal offenses against children and court protection orders) is $35,000.

A corporation wide CCTV System (Covenant Security/Unlimited Technology, Inc,) is proposed at $1,060,900.

Listed under priority needs are the following: ID Card program ($8,000); lighting upgrades ($100,000); 3M Window Film ($10,000); Security/Safety operation supplies ($70,000); fencing upgrades ($40,000); and safety and safe school signage ($10,000). the estimated total is $1, 425,000.

Additional agenda items for the regular meeting include: Introduction of School Resource Officer (SRO); report on the Alternative School; consideration of the SJRMC (St. Joseph Regional Medical Center) nursing agreement for 2013-2014; and receiving copies of extracurricular financial report.
