Tough loss for Plymouth in first road game at Rochester

April 9, 2013

Justin Drudge did all he could to give Plymouth Pilgrims a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past Rochester, as Plymouth  lost 2-1 in seven innings at Rochester on Tuesday.

It was a good day at the plate for Plymouth Pilgrims shortstop.  Drudge went 2-3.  He singled in the first and third innings.   Unfortunately, Plymouth mustered just one run.

“We had our chances!”, said Head Coach Ryan Wolfe.  “Had the bases loaded with one out in the 4th inning and our #4 and #5 hitters up, we were hoping to get some runs out of that situation, but didn’t.”

Cyrus Holland got the win for Rochester. He allowed one run over four innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered five hits.

Rochester jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Tanner Hampton kicked things off for Rochester with a single.

The lead stayed with Rochester after the fourth, when they scored one run on an error.

“Our pitching got us out of jams tonight.  But walks &  pass balls in a key situations of the ballgame hurt us.  We even pitched out of a no out-bases loaded situation ourselves.”, added Wolfe.

Plymouth travels to Bremen tomorrow afternoon around 4:15pm.
