02/27/13 Not being able to provide your family with the appropriate winter clothing is the sad truth many parents face every winter season. Unfortunately, with the ailing economy it is becoming increasingly difficult to support a family.

Marshall County REMC Lineman, Tod Brems, is collecting coat donations from the community as part of his RELITE project. RELITE is a leadership program for employees of Indiana’s electric cooperatives. Each RELITE student is responsible for collecting coat donations at their cooperative and the contributions will be given to “Makenzie’s Coat Closet” a community service initiative, which collects and distributes thousands of coats for less fortunate families.

Marshall County REMC will be collecting coat donations at their office until March 19. The Marshall County REMC office is located at 11299 12th Road Plymouth, IN 46563. For more information, please call 574-936-3161.

About Makenzie’s Coat Closet Makenzie Smith founded “Makenzie’s Coat Closet” in second grade after hearing the troubles less fortunate families face each winter season. She now collects thousands of coats each year and distributes the contributions to those who need it most. Smith was recognized at Indiana Statewide’s 2012 Annual meeting for her outstanding community service initiative.
