02/26/13 This year Trine University in Angola will host the Hoosier Boys and Girls State conference.  Organized by the American Legion, Hoosier Boys State and Hoosier Girls State are separate week-long conferences held in June that teaches theory, organization and practical application of the process of our democratic form of government. These programs provide junior boys and girls serving as delegates across the State of Indiana a firsthand insight into the rights and responsibilities of a citizen living in a democracy.

Representatives must rank in the upper half of the junior class and are selected by the Triton faculty from a pool of students interested in participating.

Hoosier Boys State representatives for Triton High School are (standing l to r) delegates Jeff Martin and Bryce Wanemacher with alternates James Eyrich and Ben Perkins; Hoosier Girls State delegates are (sitting l to r) Nichaela Rock and Allie Kann with alternates Kayleigh Craig and Ashley Borg.

The Bourbon American Legion Post 424 sponsors the Boys State delegates while the American Legion Auxiliary of the Bourbon Post sponsors the Girls State delegates.
