01/23/13  On Monday, January 21st at approximately 1:45 AM, the Marshall County Dispatch received a report of two suspicious subjects standing near a residence located at the intersection of 5D and Michigan Roads.  At the time of the report Patrolman Rick Prater with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was on routine patrol approximately half mile from the location.  Arriving in the area a search was conducted by Patrolman Rick Prater, Patrolman Nicholas Laffoon and Patrolman Phil Beam. During the search no subjects were located, but it was discovered that several vehicles had been unlawfully entered and items had been removed from them.

At approximately 2:45 AM, while still conducting their investigation, Marshall County Officers were alerted of a vehicle that had been stolen from a residence on Michigan Road north of 5D Road. County Officer’s began another search of the area.  During this same time Plymouth Police Officer Tim Taberski observed two subjects walking on Oak Road near Wal-Mart who were suspects in several thefts that were currently being investigated by both the Plymouth Police and County Police.

Officer Taberski radioed in that the two subjects were walking into Wal-Mart.  A short time later, officers from both the Plymouth Police Department and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to Wal-Mart where the offender’s was confronted near the customer service desk. The subjects were identified as:

  24 year old, Gary R. Felix of Plymouth and

  27 year old, Jordan W. McCoige of Plymouth.  While the subjects were detained Officer Laffoon located the stolen truck parked behind K-Mart, a very short distances where the subjects were first observed.  A search of the area led to the finding of several electronic items including a laptop computer and a cell phone. These items had been taken during a burglary in the 5,000 block of Michigan Road. Both subjects were transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for theft, auto theft, and burglary and held without bond.
