11/14/12 Plymouth Police Chief Jim Cox presented his October monthly report during Monday’s Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.

The Plymouth Police Department answered 698 calls for information and officers responded to 271 complaints and 166 9-1-1 calls.  City officers conducted 163 traffic stops, initiated 110 investigations, did 72 security checks, signed 62 charges, and were dispatched to 51 civil matters.

Plymouth officers made 37 criminal arrests and vehicle checks, responded to 32 alarms, investigated 30 property damage accidents, checked on 25 suspicious vehicles, handled 22 thefts and 15 juvenile complaints.  The city’s new K-9 Jax was used 15 times, 14 warrants were served along with 13 restraining orders.  IN October officers made 12 traffic arrests, located 7 open door or windows, enacted the merchant protection plan 4 times, investigated 2 battery complaints and one personal injury accident.

Plymouth Fire Chief Rod Miller presented his October activity report.  Emergency responders were dispatched 198 times last month with 157 calls being emergency medical service incidents and 11 medical assists.  8 times fire and or EMS was cancelled en route and there were 4 false alarms.

Firefighters were dispatched to 3 natural vegetation fires and 3 structure fires in October along with 2 vehicle fires and 2 hazardous conditions. The remainders of the calls were 1 each for a chemical release, a combustible spill or leak, an electrical problem, one person in distress, a service call, a smoke problem and a system malfunction.

Looking at the fire department calls by districts show 127 in Plymouth, 30 in Center Township, 21 in West Township, 3 in LaPaz, and one in Culver and Polk Township.

Plymouth paramedics did several assists in October, 5 times for Walkerton, 3 times each for LaPaz and Culver, and 2 each for Argos and Starke County.
