10/25/12 The Joe Donnelly campaign released this statement following the debate:

“I think rape is a heinous and violent crime in every instance,” said Donnelly. “The God I believe in and the God I know most Hoosiers believe in, does not intend for rape to happen—ever. What Mr. Mourdock said is shocking, and it is stunning that he would be so disrespectful to survivors of rape.”

Republican Congressional Candidate Jackie Walorski (IN-02) released the following statement regarding last night’s debate comments from Senate Candidate Richard Mourdock:

“I strongly disagree with Mr. Mourdock’s statements during last night’s Senate debate and would urge him to apologize.  I have been clear on my views, I am pro-life with the exceptions of incest, rape, and life of the mother.”

Presidential candidate Romney’s spokeswoman Andrea Saul said the candidate “disagrees with Richard Mourdock, and Mr. Mourdock’s comments do not reflect Gov. Romney’s views.”

Romney supports abortion in cases of rape, incest or when the life of the woman is in danger. His running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, does not support an exception, and has so far remained silent, referring reporters to the campaign’s official statement.
