08/10/12 Nearly 200 people have registered for the Lake Max Triathlon, which will take place Saturday, Aug. 11, starting at 8 a.m.
The triathletes will be tested by a course featuring a 400-meter swim in Lake Maxinkuckee, a 10-mile bike ride around the lake and a 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) run along the lake. Participants will compete in a variety of individual, team, and age-based categories. Registration is now closed.
Culver Academies is hosting the event, which will benefit the Culver Lions and Kiwanis clubs. The event will begin and end on the Academies’ campus, with an awards ceremony and party following the competition.
The Naval Building will serve as the race headquarters, with the finish line just north of the facility. The short-course event is certified by the USA Triathlon organization
