07/25/12 Plymouth’s Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt told the Board of Public Works and Safety that his staff has completed the lists of sidewalk projects ranked at 1E on the ADA Transition Program completed by MACOG. The sidewalks at these intersections were determined to be the most important ones to be handicap assessable.
Marquardt has some funds still available and requested to start on the 2E projects. He specifically wanted to do the intersection at North Plum and West Adams Streets and on to the new Resource Center on Adams Street. He estimated that the project would finish out most of the funds available and if anything is left he will use it to buy materials for next year.
The Street Superintendent briefly talked about the Baker Street project that got underway on Monday. There is still some money left in the 2012 Street Projects line item. He suggested several short sections around the city that could be completed with the remaining funds and asked to bid the following list of projects: Reichter from Baker to East Jefferson Street, Ewing Street from Michigan to Bayles, East Monroe from Michigan to Parkview, East Madison from 8th Street to the Country Place Apartments and North Center Street from Monroe to Jackson Street. Marquardt was granted permission to put short street projects out to bid.
