06/18/12 The Marshall County Church Orchestra held the first of a four “Concert in the Park” series a week ago Sunday evening, June 10 at Argos Memorial Park.  Although it was a hot the steady breeze kept things comfortable.

The orchestra under the direction of Don Harness of Plymouth opened with the Star Spangled Banner and went directly into the peppy, Argos High School fight song.  Several orchestra members are fromArgosand they thought it would be enjoyable to play the song for theArgoscrowd.  The orchestra continued with a variety of classical selections and hymns.

Halfway through the program Harness turned the stage over to Judy Hall and the Walnut Church of the Brethren choir who were the guest artists for the evening.  They sang several up tempo gospel songs and joined the orchestra on the favorite hymn “All Hail The Power of Jesus Name”.

The MCCO finished their portion of the concert with Broadway and movie tunes. Harness closed the evening by thanking theArgosBibleChurchfor allowing the orchestra the use of their parking lot and rest room facilities for the evening.

Before dismissing the audience, orchestra member Cindy Flagg invited the audience to join in singing Happy Birthday to Harness.  Drummer Brad Beatty and his family provided a homemade cake to share.

The Marshall County Church Orchestra will appear at the Plymouth Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning, June 16th from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  Their next park concert will take place at the Culver Town Park on Sunday, July 8th at6:00 p.m.
