05/09/12 The 8th year of the Plymouth Farmers’ Market (PFM) opens this Saturday, traditionally the day before Mother’s Day. As in past years, Art Heminger of Balloon Art will be on hand to twist and tweak balloon creations for young and old. Youngsters can plant flowers in baby shoes for their special mom thanks to Sr. Sue Rogers of Earthworks and Mike Woolfington. Master Gardeners will feature a display on ‘Making Your Garden Grow.’

Entertainment kicks off with Gabriele Hill directing the Plymouth Community Youth Orchestra at 9:30. Their annual spring concert is  Sunday, May 20 at 5 p.m. at Lincoln Jr. High.

Not-for-Profit groups will also be on hand to raise funds. Plymouth Kiwanis will be selling Vidalia onions. Relay for Life teams will also be raising money for the overnight event June 23-24. Kris Reitz of Clueless Wonders will be selling handmade headbands, key chains and necklaces. Donna Napier of Penny’s Peddlers will have specially designed and signed ceramic bowls for purchase—in deep purple, of course.

The Market is held Saturdays from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. in River Park Square at Garro and River Streets, east of Michigan. The area is now officially a city park under the management of the Plymouth Parks Department. The last day for the Market is Oct. 13, the second Saturday of the month.

Applications for vendors and not-for-profits are available on the website at www.plymouthfarmersmarket.com or by contacting Tom Keb, Market Manager, 10499 Tyler Road, Bremen, IN 46506 (574-217-5776).
