03/26/12 On Wednesday, March 21st officers from the Marshall County Sheriff Department were conducting an investigation of thefts in the LaPaz area. Through the investigation it was found that the tenants at Lot 20 of the Little Fawn Trail Park had ran a cable wire from the Mediacom cable box thru an open window at the residence.
March 22, 2012 the Marshall County Sheriff Department served a search warrant at 2662 N. Michigan Road Lot 20. Officers found that the tenants were attempting to connect cable service thru Mediacom without paying for the service.
Officers Detective Duane Culp and Patrolman Les McFarland located stolen property, Meth and Meth related items within the residence.
Both tenants, Chad Whitten and Tara Martin were arrested for Theft of Services, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Stolen Property and taken to the Marshall County Jail. Whitten was held on a $3,000 cash bond while Martin’s bond was set at $1,500.
