02/14/12 The Rock will become an airport for a night as the Plymouth High School LEAD Club will take a flight against hunger.

LEAD (Leaders Eliminating Alcohol and Drugs) members for the third year will host their fundraiser to help the hungry in Plymouth by selling paper airplanes to those who wish to donate at the Plymouth vs. CMA basketball game on February 14. Those with planes will then be able to throw them onto the floor at a target.

Those closest to the target will get prizes such as gift certificates donated by Yoder’s Sports Center, signed shirts from the PHS boys and girls basketball teams, two cheerleaders uniforms and a football signed by the PHS football team.

“The students were trying to come up with a way we could help the hungry and this is what they came up with,” said Gene Skirvin, PHS teacher who is the sponsor of LEAD. “We had done some things with the Red Cross before and when they stopped having their food pantry that lead us to working with the Neighborhood Center.”

For a dollar per plane donation those at the game can take as many shots at a prize as they like while helping a good cause.
