02/09/12 Republican Randy Head announced today he is seeking a second term representing District 18 in the Indiana State Senate.

“Working each and every day to improve the quality of life for all Hoosiers is my top priority,” Head said. “My job is to ensure Hoosiers’ freedoms are protected – freedom from violent crime, excessive taxes, and infringement of their individual rights.”

A life-long Hoosier, Randy is a strong advocate for victims of violent crime. He authored legislation to crack down on human trafficking and increase penalties for child solicitation in order to protect our children. His human trafficking legislation, Senate Enrolled Act 4, was signed into law by Governor Daniels just before Super Bowl 46.

In addition, Randy is a strong fiscal conservative who is committed to policies that help grow the Indiana economy and create jobs. He authored legislation to help Indiana farmers compete in the global marketplace and he has been named one of the state’s most pro-jobs, pro-economic growth legislators.

“Instead of acting like the Federal Government and accumulating more debt, we tightened our belt and kept Indiana in the black,” Head said. “We must focus on policies that will help grow the economy and provide a better future for us and for our children – and that includes state government operating like Hoosier families do – sticking to a budget and not spending more money than we have – after all, it’s not our money. It’s the taxpayers’.”

Randy also works hard on behalf of agriculture, one of his district’s biggest economic engines.  His efforts gave farmers a voice in creating standards for animal care, streamlined procedures dealing with Purdue’s animal research lab, and increased check off programs for interested producers.

First elected to represent District 18 in the State Senate in 2008, Randy routinely uses his experience as a Deputy Prosecutor on the Senate Judiciary Committee.  He is also a member of the Senate Committees on Elections, Public Policy and Tax & Fiscal Policy, and he chaired the Interim Committee on Redistricting. A strong advocate of the Second Amendment, Randy is also committed to policies that support our right to self-protection.

Randy is past president and currently serves on the board of the Cass County Community Foundation.  Randy has also been active in other community activities including the Fraternal Order of Police, Indiana Farm Bureau, the Indiana State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Committee and the Logansport Rotary Club.

A graduate of Wabash College and Indiana University, Randy and his wife Lisa reside in Logansport. They attend Main Street United Methodist Church in Logansport.

Senate District 18 is composed of Cass, Fulton and Miami Counties and portions of Carroll, Kosciusko and Marshall Counties.
