01/23/12 Last Saturday, January 14th at 3:25am, Patrolman Brandon Cooper of the Marshall County Police Department conducted a traffic stop at US 30 near Iris Road for excessive speed. Through the investigation it was determined that the driver, Ronnie E. Lewis Jr. 23, of Gary was in possession of a handgun without a license. Lewis was arrested and transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked in with a $750.00 cash bond, and is scheduled to appear in Marshall County Superior Court #2 on February 14th at 8:30am. Patrolman Cooper was assisted by Bourbon Police Department.
On Saturday, January 14th at 4:07am, Deputy Travis O’Neal responded to a report of a telephone pole that had been damaged in front of a residence in the 5,000 block of Queen Road. When Officers arrived they observed tire tracks in the snow leading up to the damaged pole. The vehicle that struck the pole had left the area before officers could arrive. This incident is currently under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Marshall County Police Department at 574-936-3187.
