11/07/11 For local consumers wanting to test drive a Chevrolet Volt, the electric car with extended-range capability, the wait is now over.

Country Auto Center, www.countryautocenter.com, has received its dedicated Volt demonstration vehicle for customer test drives in the Marshall County area.

“Customer reaction to the Volt has been exceptional thus far.  The best way for a Customer to experience the Volt is for them to drive it.”, said Joe Martin, Jr., from Country Auto Center.   “Once a Customer drives a Volt, they will realize it is a revolutionary car available to them today.  Those concerned with their carbon footprint will be pleased General Motors is offering this exceptional vehicle.”

The Volt is an electric vehicle that offers a total driving range of up to 379 miles, based on EPA estimates. With a full battery charge, the Volt can be driven for the first 35 miles of the commute without using any gasoline whatsoever.  There will be absolutely no tailpipe emissions, either. When the Volt’s battery runs low, a gas-powered engine/generator seamlessly kicks in. The generator produces electricity to run the vehicle.  This extends the driving range another 344 miles on a full tank of gasoline.

Consumers run errands around town on battery charge, but they can also take the Volt on extended trips or vacations without having to worry about stopping to charge the battery.
