03/15/11 The Marshall County Extension Office is holding an evening session on invasive insect and plants impacting our woodlands and properties.
Have you ever heard of the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug? It is a new insect pest here in Marshall County that feeds on plants during the summer and over the winters in our homes.
Bob Yoder, Marshall County Purdue Extension Educator will lead a discussion on invasive pests at the Plymouth Public Library in the Laramore Room on Tuesday evening, March 15. The program will start at 6:30 pm and last until 8:30 pm. Yoder will discuss what is meant by invasive and how these new plants and animals our impacting our local ecology.
He will share specific information on invasive plants like Garlic Mustard, Tree of Heaven, Asian Bush Honeysuckle, and Oriental Bittersweet and insect pests like Brown Marmorated Stink Bug, Emerald Ash Borer and Gypsy Moth. Emerald Ash Borer and Gypsy Moth are two new insect pests that may need to be managed in your landscape, so understanding how to identify them is important.
