02/23/11 Monday’s nasty weather had police officers from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department running from one accident to another.  Sheriff Tom Chamberlin said that during the time frame of 6 a.m. Tuesday till 6 p.m. his officers responded to 25slide-offs, 28 property damage accidents, and 44 personal injury accidents.  The activity report was generated from the 9-1-1 telephone calls received by the communications center and dispatched to Marshall County area emergency response services.

Officer Larry Snyder responded to Quince and 3B Road at 12:20 for a single vehicle crash.  45 year old Dawn Beawell of Plymouth was traveling north on Quince Road when she lost control of the 2008 Saturn XR she was driving on the ice covered roadway.  The vehicle started to spin, going off the road and striking a cement marker with the left rear of the vehicle.  She was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for a small cut to the head.  Officer Snyder noted that the roadway was extremely slippery and at the time of the crash the county was experiencing freezing rain.

At 1:50 Officer Snyder was dispatched to US 31 and 14C Road for a single vehicle crash.  41 year old Kellie Shei of Argos was traveling south on US 31 in a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica when she lost control of the vehicle.  The SUV left the road on the west side, going down a small embankment and striking a fence and post.  Shei was using a safety belt and denied any injuries resulting from the accident.

Officer Larry Snyder was then dispatched to US 31 and Park Drive for a two vehicle crash at 3:40 p.m.  A 1998 Chevy Tracker driven by 18 year old Tyler Kline of Plymouth and a 2000 Toyota Camery driven by 36 year old Heidi Miller of South Bend were traveling south on US 31. Kline’s Tracker was following the Camery when he lost control and the Tracker began spinning.  His vehicle struck the rear of the Camery he was following.  Both drivers were using safety belts and no injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Less than an hour later Officer Snyder was dispatched to another crash at  6th and Quince Road.  17 year old  Cayla Hulse of Plymouth was traveling east on 6th Road in a 2003 GMC Envoy when she lost control on the snow and ice covered road surface.  The SUV went off the roadway, striking a cement culvert and rolling over onto its top.  Hulse denied any injuries resulting from the crash, however she was transported to the Plymouth hospital by a parent.  Officer Snyder noted that the road surface was snow covered at the time of the investigation.
