02/18/11 Thursday, Congressman Joe Donnelly was selected by his colleagues on the full House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs as the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.  This means he will serve as the highest-ranking Democrat on the subcommittee and work with the Subcommittee Chairman, Congressman Bill Johnson of Ohio, to oversee and investigate matters pertaining to American veterans.

“I’m proud to serve as the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations,” said Donnelly.  “Since coming to Congress, I’ve been fortunate to serve the interests of our brave men and women on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and this post will allow me to better serve Hoosier veterans by ensuring the VA and other federal agencies that work with veterans are doing right by them.  We owe our men and women in uniform a debt of gratitude, and I look forward to working with Subcommittee Chairman Johnson to make sure our veterans are receiving the health care, benefits, and overall respect they have earned.”

The Subcommittee has oversight and investigative jurisdiction over veterans’ matters generally and other matters referred to the Subcommittee by the Chairman of the full Veterans’ Affairs Committee.  The Subcommittee provides oversight on programs and operations of the Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as those of other federal agencies that affect veterans.
