02/16/11 A Plymouth woman was injured Tuesday morning when the vehicle she was driving crashed into a barn in Burr Oak.
45 year old Connie Goad told paramedics from the Plymouth Fire Department that she was in a hurry and running late for work.
Marshall County Officer Matt Brown was the investigating officer for the accident that happened at 10:29 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 17 and 15th Road. His report indicates that Ms. Goad was traveling east on 15th Road approaching the stop sign at State Road 17. The investigation revealed that the 2001 Chrysler Voyager was traveling faster than the speed limit. The van traveled through the T-intersection, across State Road 17,the vehicle then went through the yard where it went airborne for 31 feet before landing back on the ground and hitting a concrete embankment. The van then went airborne again for about 50 feet before it crashed into a barn on the Overmyer Farm.
Officer Brown indicated that the Voyager struck the barn on the passenger’s side causing the minivan to spin back around in a clockwise motion. The van came to rest approximately 15 to 20 feet inside the barn facing in a northeast direction.
Connie Goad was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the fire department. She was flown from the scene to Memorial Hospital in South Bend by Samaritian. She was listed in stable condition Tuesday afternoon.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Marshall County Police were assisted on the scene by the Culver EMS, Culver Fire, and Plymouth Paramedics.
