City NEws May Jan Headman from Saint Joseph Valley Metronet appeared before the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission Tuesday night seeking $30,000 to complete a Metronet backbone loop.  The dark fiber currently ends about U.S. Granules on Western Avenue.  The proposal is to extend the conduit and fiber south on Western Avenue to North Street and then east on North Street to Michigan Street where it would connect up with the fiber already in place.

It was noted that if the loop was completed Plymouth Foundry would pay for a lateral to bring the Metronet to Harrison Street, creating the longest lateral in the city.

Redevelopment Commission president, Dan Tyree had a couple of issues to discuss before a determination could be made on the request.  He asked Martin how much money was left in the project fund. It was estimated that there is roughly $200,000 left in the original budget.  It was asked if the proposal would be considered in the original scope of work or a new project.

After a lengthy discussion the motion was made and approved to close the Metronet loop at a cost of $30,000.
