bomb threatA bomb threat at the Culver Jr./Sr. High School just before 1 Wednesday sent students and staff to the elementary building.

Superintendent Dr. Vickie McGuire said, “A note was written on a bathroom wall, most likely by a student but we implemented our procedures and evacuated the building.” She said the note was very generic without specific details about the bomb.

The Culver Community School Corporation’s School Reach program sent a message to parents letting them know what was happening and telling them they could pick up their Jr/Sr high children in the gym at the elementary school.

Classes for the rest of the day at the high school were suspended and practices were moved to other buildings.

McGuire said a bomb sniffing dog was requested to search the school and Culver Police Chief Wayne Beam and officers from the Marshall County Police Department assisted at the school.

McGuire said the staff did an outstanding job of getting students moved swiftly and safely from the high school to the elementary. She also commented that the students were outstanding in their behavior.

McGuire said, “I don’t want to guess on this, although we really don’t think it is a creditable threat. It’s better to err with caution.”

The bomb sniffing dog arrived after 3 and found nothing.
