County News_logoA water issue on 13th Road between the Marshall County Humane Society and Homestead Dairy was discussed during Mondays Drainage Board meeting.
Highway Foreman Jason Peters spoke with County Surveyor Larry Fisher and suggested raising the road to eliminate the water issue, trying to get water off the surface of 13th Road.
Fisher said water is getting under the railroad but it degrades from there and the 15 inch culvert under the driveway at the dairy is only half full. He indicated that the drainage has been worked on in the past and said, “The tile is open but not working great.” Fisher suggested installing 990 feet of 1- inch tile to allow the surface water to get away quicker and get it into the wetland area.
Drainage Board members gave him permission to seek 3 bids for the project and will allow the surveyor to award the project to the best and lowest bidder and the board will ratify the action at their July meeting. Fisher estimated the project would be at least $10,000 and there is money in the fund for the work.
