12/16/13  On Wednesday, December 11th the Plymouth Police Department received a report of a theft from Rent-A-Center in Plymouth. Personnel at Rent-A-Center told officers that 36 year old Jeremy Spencer of Mishawaka and his wife had rented merchandise in August of 2013.  They had determined that the rented items had sold on Craigslist.   Detective Leo Mangus with the Plymouth Police Department confirmed that the items had been sold on Craigslist.  Mr. Spencer and his was had moved from Plymouth to Mishawaka where he was later located on Thursday, December 12th. Spencer was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail and held on a charge of Theft.  He was booked in on a $5,000 cash bond.  Officers noted that Mr. Spencer is currently on probation in St. Joseph County regarding a Theft conviction.


Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
