12/28/12The City of Plymouth has a new Plan Director.
The Plymouth Common Council voted to appoint current Marshall County Plan Director Ralph Booker to a similar position with the city of Plymouth. The appointment is the result of negotiations between city and county officials to make the position workable within Booker’s current responsibilities with county.
As part of the agreement the city of Plymouth will pay $7,000 a year to Marshall County to allow Booker to conduct city business as well as county during his work day and also pay $6879 additionally towards Booker’s salary.
Booker will take over Plymouth’s Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals in the coming year.
The Council passed an ordinance on second reading with an eye towards taking a longer look at the new Personnel Policy manual.
Council members hope to use the time afforded before third reading to research personal time policies in the new manual. Concerns of council members centered on the policy being equitable to all city employees without taking away from the special demands of police and firefighters who work a drastically different type of schedule than regular city employees.
While concern was to pass the new manual before the start of the coming year – since it also contains the official list of paid holidays each year for city employees – Clerk-Treasurer Toni Hutchings assured the Council that all holidays before the next city meeting were already included in the current city manual.
The council also re-appointed Don Wendel and Mike Miley to the city Redevelopment Commission.
