04/25/12 On Thursday, April 19th at 12:41pm the Marshall County Dispatch Center received a report of a burglary and theft that occurred at the victim’s residence in the 19,000 block of 12th Road. Upon arriving on the scene it was learned that the incident had happened several days prior to the time the incident was reported. An unknown person entered an outbuilding on the property and once inside the building the person removed a Stihl chainsaw from the building. A further search of the property found that several vehicles parked in a different outbuilding had been tampered with. There were also several items recovered from the scene that were apparently left by the unknown subject. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Patrolman Nicholas Laffoon at the Marshall County Police department at 574-936-3187.
On Friday, April 20th at 4:23pm, Patrolman Jonathan Bryant of the Marshall County Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Fir Road just north of 3B Road. During the investigation marijuana, marijuana paraphernalia and legend drugs were located inside the car. The driver, Hayden Staiger, 20, of Walkerton was transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked in for possession of marijuana and given a $1,500.00 cash bond. Staiger is scheduled to appear in Marshall County Superior Court #2 on May 22nd at 8:30am.
On Friday, April 20th at 5:00pm, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department obtained information that a juvenile runaway, who had been reported to the Walkerton Police Department, was at a residence in the Creekside Trailer Park on US 31. Officer Les McFarland went to the residence and spoke with Carlos Estrada concerning the juvenile. While Officer McFarland was speaking with Mr. Estrada, he detected a very strong smell of burnt marijuana emitting from the house trailer. McFarland obtained consent to search the house trailer and recovered what was believed to be marijuana and marijuana drug paraphernalia.
McFarland spoke with all the individuals involved and a criminal case report is being completed and forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor Office.
The just a short time later on Friday, April 20th at 9:38pm, Patrolman Bryant made another arrest when he conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Lilac Road and US 6. It was found that the driver, William Town, 53, of Plymouth was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Town was transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was given a $1500.00 cash bond for his release, and is scheduled to appear in Marshall County Superior Court #2 on May 1st at 8:30am.
