04/23/12 Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center–Plymouth was named as one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals by Thomson Reuters, the world’s leading source of measurement in the healthcare industry. The top hospitals were announced in the April 16 edition of Modern Healthcare magazine.

According to Thomson Reuters’ analysis of nearly 3,000 hospitals, the Top 100 Hospitals, in matchups with their peers, are ahead of the pack in all study comparisons: they are more likely to have systems in place to safeguard patients from medical errors, provide levels of treatment known and proven to get results, deliver effective care at a reasonable cost, have high scores in patient perception of care and is a reliable provider of high-value care to patients and the whole community.

To conduct the 100 Top Hospitals study, Thomson Reuters utilized objective research and independent public data. Hospitals do not apply for this nomination, and winners to not pay as a recipient or to market this honor.

SJRMC—Plymouth was one of only four hospitals in Indiana to earn the distinction. Also on the list are Dupont Hospital, Ft. Wayne; St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, Indianapolis and Major Hospital, Shelbyville. This is the first time Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center–Plymouth has received this distinction.
