03/30/12 U.S. Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) made the following statement regarding greenhouse gas rules for new power plants released today by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

“The president claims to support an ‘all of the above’ approach to energy production, yet this regulation effectively will terminate any plans to construct new coal-fired power plants,” said Coats, a member of the Senate Energy Committee. “The EPA’s latest rule increases energy costs at a time when Hoosiers already are paying $4 a gallon for gas. This is another example of the EPA bypassing Congress and overstepping its constitutional authority.”
