Wednesday Plymouth High School Senior Morgan Langfeldt committed her future academic and athletic career to Kansas State University.
Kansas State is a four-year college located in Manhattan, Kansas. Morgan chose Kansas State because their animal science program is competitive and nationally recognized as a top program. Animal science is something that she is passionate about and sure that Kansas State has the resources for her to be successful in the future.
Morgan is the daughter of Jon and Laura Langfeldt. Morgan is part of the PHS tennis team and was the boy’s tennis manager. She has competed in volleyball and the swim team. In addition, she is a part of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Future Farmers of America, Future Teachers of America, and the Interact Club.
Morgan plans to compete for the rowing team and double major in Animal Science and Industry and Feed Science and Management.
Kansas State is a Division 1 school that competes in the Big 12 conference. Other schools in the conference are Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech, and West Virginia. For rowing the teams that compete are: Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and West Virginia with Tennessee and Alabama being Big 12 affiliate members.
PHS Swim Coach Haley Church said, “Morgan was a team captain on the swim team as a Junior and we are proud that her career will be continuing in the water! She swam tough events for us because she is strong mentally and physically. But more importantly, she is a kind leader.”
PHS Tennis Coach Brad Haeck had this to say about Morgan, “Morgan has been a three-year letterman on the girl’s tennis team and an integral part of our team’s success over that time. As a junior last year, Morgan earned our most improved player award while finishing in third place in the NLC at 3 Singles and helping the team to an NLC Tournament and overall NLC Championship! As a senior this year, she took on a new role as a doubles player and learned new skills and style of play while teaming up with Cassidy Riddle. Together they won the NLC 2D Championship without losing a set in 10 conference matches and helped the team to a second place NLC finish. Morgan currently has an 18-2 record in her Senior season and will hopefully help lead PHS to another Sectional Championship this week, starting today! Morgan has always had a great attitude, been a hard worker, and a great teammate during her time at PHS and those attributes will serve her well competing as a D1 athlete at Kansas State.”
