Monday evening the Plymouth Common Council approved a resolution in support of the issuance of a permit to sell alcoholic beverages at 101 S. Michigan Street, which is in the new Riverfront District. In the first quarter of 2022, the City Council approved the creation of a Riverfront District to assist the REES Theatre project. The district has a special allocation of alcohol permits above what is allotted for the city.
Harman Restaurants Inc. plans to create a casual dining experience and craft beer eatery in the former NIPSCO or Integrity Martial Arts building.
Monday evening local architect Brent Martin spoke for Tim Harman and said he plans to serve artisan wood-fired pizzas and BBQ with a host of craft beers. They won’t be brewing beer on-site but offer a variety of wines, spirits, and craft beers. Beers will come from various microbreweries across the Midwest.
Debra Venti, Director of Operations told the county Plymouth is home for her. She’s been gone for 29 years and is returning to manage the new restaurant.
Showing a photo of the currently vacant building, Martin said they are going to keep the sort of mid-century modern look of the building. Plans are to build a deck off the south wall over the riverbank for outdoor dining with sails over it for shade. He offered some examples of the interior look with an exposed structure.
Venti said, “A gathering place like this is so crucial to keep the momentum growing downtown since the opening of the REES Theatre.”
Martin said they are just beginning the process to get the design started. He also commented that the name, 101 Brew Wurks is a working title at this point.
The motion was unanimously approved by the Plymouth City Council.
