On Friday, February 10th, (2023) at approximately 12:50 AM, Marshall County Officer Wozniak witnessed a black 2009 Ford SUV traveling 95 miles per hour southbound on U.S. 31 in the area of 12th Road. The officer was able to catch up to the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop near 14C Road.

During the investigation, Marshall County Canine Officer Bennett and his canine partner “Diesel” were called to the scene to assist. The canine alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle and officers located paraphernalia that tested positive for cocaine, as well as marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.

The driver of the vehicle, 48-year-old William L. Biggs Jr. of Peru was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail.  He was booked in for Possession of Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Reckless Driving.

A female passenger, 45-year-old Jamie D. Bledsoe, also of Preu was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail for Possession of Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Both were given cash bonds of $1,500.00.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
