On Monday, January 30th, (2023) at approximately 1:15 in the morning, Officer Wozniak with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a black 2014 Mitsubishi SUV at Hoham Drive and North Michigan Street in Plymouth.

During the course of the investigation, Officer Wozniak requested canine Officer Templeman and his canine partner “Bear” to the scene. The canine alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle and a vehicle search was completed.

Ramon C. Santiago II

The driver of the vehicle, Ramon C. Santiago II, age 30 of Syracuse, was transported to the Marshall County Jail for driving while suspended with a prior suspension within 10 years.  He was held on a $500 cash bond.

Chad M. Heflin

A passenger in the vehicle, Chad M. Heflin II, age 26, of Elkhart, was booked into the County Jail for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Paraphernalia, and False Informing. He was held on a $1,500 cash bond. 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
