Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel is pleased to announce that two recently hired deputies have graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.   

The Academy’s basic course for new police officers consists of over 600 hours of training in a variety of areas.  Criminal and traffic law, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, physical tactics, EMS awareness, and human behavior are some of the major areas of instruction during this training course. 

Jeffrey Haygood is a graduate of LaVille High School and Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He has been employed by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department as a Turnkey/Dispatcher since August of 2020. He is married to Lynae and they have a daughter.  Jeffrey Haywood was read the oath of office and sworn in by Debbie VanDeMark, Marshall County Clerk on April 18, 2022.

Devin Johnson is a graduate of Triton High School and Indiana University South Bend with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. He has been employed by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department as a Turnkey/Dispatcher since November of 2020.  Devin Johnson was read the oath of office and sworn in by Debbie VanDeMark, Marshall County Clerk on July 18, 2022.
