On Monday, December 12^th the Plymouth Common Council heard on first reading an ordinance to increase fees in the Plymouth Park Department and Cemetery Department. 

The Plymouth Common Council must approve in ordinance form all fees and charges imposed by the City of Plymouth through its various departments for the myriad of services it provides to individuals. This is true even if the specific department has its own oversight board. The Plymouth Park and Recreation Board approved modifications to its fee schedule for 2023 at its December 5, meeting. Additionally, the Cemetery Department has requested changes to some of its fees.

Changes in the Cemetery Department include an increase for adult grave openings on Sunday between noon and 3 p.m. from $750 up to $1,000.  Grave openings for a cremation urn on Sunday will increase from $400 to $500 and Mausoleum entombment on Sundays from $500 to $750.

Other increases include the fee for concrete footings for monuments from $.35 per square inch to $.40. The ordinance also sets a fee to disinter the remains of a child under 12 years of age at $500 and increases the adult fee from $600 to $1,000.

The Plymouth Park Board approved a $5 increase for their shelters and picnic site rentals.  The Freyman, Hoosier Old Wheels, Horse barn, and Price’s front and back shelters will rent for $50 for city residents and $80 for non-residents.   

The new pavilion in River Park Square will rent for $50 for city residents and $80 for non-residents.  The Gazebo at Prices Pond and in Centennial will be $30 and $50 respectively.  The various pavilions which include the Roadrunners, Mason’s, Neidlinger, Rotary, Lions Club, and red and blue ones at Packard Woods are $30 for city residents and $50 for non-residents and the picnic sites are $15 for city residents and $25 for non-residents.

The Webster Rec Center and Conservation Clubhouse rentals increased by $100 for residents and non-residents and $50 for certified not-for-profits.  There is also a flat fee of $400 to rent the River Park Square Performance area and concession stand while not-for-profits will pay $200.

Family Pool passes will be up $20 to $80 for city residents and $100 for non-residents while group swimming lessons increased by $5, and they added a lifeguard fee for pool parties along with a kayak rental fee of $30 a day.

The City Common Council will consider the fee ordinance on 2^nd and 3^rd reading at their next meeting on Tuesday, December 27^th beginning at 6:30 p.m.
