With the winter season upon us, Ward Byers, Marshall County Community Corrections Director and Clyde Avery, Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director, would like to remind everyone that the Marshall County IN APP is the officially recognized source for staying informed about travel restrictions, road closures, and weather conditions that could potentially impact travel and result in school delays or even school closures.

The Marshall County IN APP was developed to replace NIXLE in the update to the Emergency Public Information Annex of the County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.  The updated annex was adopted by the Marshall County Board of Commissioners in August of this year.

Additional resources on the APP continue to be added since it was first introduced in 2021.  The APP was originally created with 1st Responders and Law Enforcement in mind to give them immediate access to community organizations that can help them and the public on such matters as substance abuse resources, suicide prevention, grief counseling, and other types of public assistance that might be available through 2-1-1. In addition, the APP is used by the Marshall County Health Department to show the location of the Mobile Medical Unit.

The Mobile App was paid for with a grant from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.

The Marshall County mobile app was developed by OCV, LLC. The app offers quick access to items of public interest and is easy to use. In just a few clicks, users can access features including:

  • News and Events
  • Local and State Road Conditions
  • Instant Push Notifications
  • Social Media
  • Public Health
  • Emergency Management
  • Corrections
  • Power outages
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Live County Meetings
  • More!

The APP is used regularly by Marshall County EMA, Highway, and the Health Departments to “push” messages to community members regarding matters of importance.

To download the APP visit either the APP Store or Google Play and search for Marshall County Indiana.
