For Fall 2022, there will be a Purdue Extension Master Gardener Basic Training from September 1 – December 5 with completion of the final exam on December 8. This training will be held in person in Plymouth, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on some Monday and Thursday evenings.

Class size for the Master Gardener Basic Training program is limited to the first 15 individuals that submit their applications. There will be a total of 15 class dates and a final exam to complete the training.

For individuals to become local Master Gardener Interns, they must complete this training course and pass the final exam. The course prepares individuals to become Master Gardener volunteers who can help answer home horticulture questions and provide resources to our community. Some topics covered in the training include plant science, plant nutrition, pest and disease identification/management, care of various plant types, organic gardening, vegetable/ fruit gardening, lawn care, and invasive species and management. 

This program is geared to educating individuals in a classroom and hands-on environment. The cost of the course is $180 per individual or $280 for two individuals in the same household. Financial assistance may be available for special circumstances.
