Senator Stacey Donato released a statement following Saturday’s vote on Senate Bill 1.  The Senate passed the abortion ban bill 26-20. The bill now heads to the House for its approval.

“Senate Bill 1 was passed today as a base for pro-life framework, though changes must be made to the language to more adequately protect the lives of our unborn children. My ‘yes’ vote is in the hopes that the House of Representatives takes this opportunity to continue this discussion and improve SB 1, which is flawed as it currently stands.

“I am determined to continue to support pro-life values and advocate for those who can’t speak for themselves, and I plan to work diligently to make sure young women are provided the services to assist them in healthy choices for themselves and their babies.”
