Monday evening the Plymouth City Council passed a resolution confirming the real estate for Composite Technology Assemblies LLC, commonly known as Oasis at Pioneer and Gary Drives to be within an Economic Revitalization Area (ERA).
Greg Hildebrand from Marshall County Economic Development Corporation told council members Oasis has expanded into another location that will manufacture their number one shower and tub enclosure line.
Oasis is investing $2 million in personal property that includes three robots and $2 million in real estate. The investment also includes 76 additional jobs added to the already 200 positions Oasis currently has.
Hildebrand presented a 7-year phase-in tax abatement for both the real property and personal property.
Councilman Greg Compton questioned the motion stating that he wanted to approve the 7-year phase-in for real estate but did not want the personal property included, he wanted it in a separate motion. Compton said with depreciation on the personal property it wouldn’t have any value left after the 7 years.
Councilman Jeff Houin said he made the motion and was agreeable to both real and personal property being a 7-year phase-in because of the creation of 76 new jobs.
Councilman Don Ecker said he was also supportive of the resolution because of the new jobs being created.
The resolution passed 6 to 1 with Compton voting no.
