Severe weather season is here and that means it is time to get prepared. Severe storms have the potential to produce strong damaging winds, flash floods, and tornados. To help keep you and your family safe, the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency will be programming and distributing FREE, NOAA Weather/All Hazards Alert Radios.
The giveaway and programming event will be held this Friday, April 8th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency office located at 112. W. Jefferson Street in Plymouth, IN. in Room 207 (2nd floor of the Marshall County Building).
These radios are designed to alert you to dangerous weather or other hazardous situations so that you can take the necessary emergency safety actions to protect you and your family.
NOAA Weather/All Hazard Alert Radio is a nationwide network of radio stations broadcasting continuous weather information directly from the National Weather Service office in Northern Indiana. The National Weather Service broadcasts official Weather Service warnings, watches, forecasts, and other hazard information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Specific Area Message Encoding Technology (S.A.M.E.) allows the radio to be programmed to filter National Weather Service broadcasts of warnings and emergency alerts for a selected geographic area.
There is NO charge for the Radio or the programming. We also recommend that you bring (3) AA batteries with you, but they are not required. Radio supplies are limited, and the giveaway will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
