BREMEN — Grace Meyer has signed a letter of intent to attend Huntington University located in Huntington, Indiana, where she will play tennis for the Foresters.
Despite the cancellation of the 2020 tennis season due to COVID-19 and with spring tennis just getting underway, Grace still helped lead Bremen to a sectional crown, two Northern Indiana Conference (NIC) South titles, a first-place finish at the Bremen Tournament, and two Goshen Invitational championships. With teammate Courtney Lawmaster, Meyer was the 2021 sectional champion at #1 doubles before advancing to the LaPorte Regional finals. The Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association (IHSTECA) named Grace to their All-District team. During Grace’s freshmen and junior seasons, the Lions posted an overall record of 33-7.
After receiving NIC All-Conference honors as a freshman, Grace came back her junior season and was named to the All-NIC’s 1st Team. At the conclusion of the spring season, she will become a 4-year varsity letter winner for the tennis program. A two-sport athlete, Grace was also a four-year member of the Bremen Volleyball team.
Academically, the senior team captain carries a 3.97 grade point average that ranks seventh in the class of 2022 and earned her NIC All-Academic honors. Meyer’s performance in the classroom led the Lions to IHSTECA All-Academic Team recognition. Grace will be pursuing a degree in English at Huntington University.
Grace is the daughter Curt and Kim Meyer.
Bremen High School Head Tennis Coach, Brita Miller stated, “I am extremely excited for Grace to experience college tennis. She absolutely shows deep passion and knowledge for the game of tennis. Grace has devoted significant amounts of time in the offseason to improving her tennis game. She is a strong leader and hard worker.”
