On Monday, March 21 a person arrived at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department to make complaint of theft.
1st Sergeant Les McFarland took the complaint and started investigating the incident.
On Tuesday, March 22 1st Sergeant McFarland went to the home of the suspect in the theft, located in the 10,000 block of U.S. 6. During the interview and investigation, the suspect, Ralph Reed Jr., pulled a handgun and pointed it at 1st Sergeant McFarland. During the incident the suspect eventually disarmed himself and was arrested at the scene.
Ralph Reed was later transported to and booked into the Marshall County Jail for Theft and Pointing a Firearm. The cash bond for Ralph Reed, Jr. is $10,000.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
