During the last Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety meeting a recommendation on the bids for vehicles for the Water Department and Wastewater Department was presented by Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson.

Oliver Ford Lincoln and Auto Park Buick GMC submitted bids for the vehicles.

Davidson recommended the low bid of Oliver Ford for the Water Department truck.  The low bid was $34,310.

For the Wastewater Department the bidding is “different,” according to Davidson.  Initially the bid from the Auto Park for a Chevy Silverado was the low bid at $131,134.25 and the F250 was $31,573.  Davidson said while reviewing the specifications he discovered three items that the Silverado bid had left out.  Using the aftermarket pricing for those items made the Silverado bid higher than the Ford.  Davidson said they prefer not to use aftermarket items, so the Ford bid had everything in the specifications and his recommendation was to accept the bid from Oliver Ford for the F-250 for $31,573.

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved the recommendation of Superintendent Davidson for the vehicle purchases.

The Board of Public Works also opened the only quote for a new Fire Chief’s Vehicle.   Oliver Ford was the only company to submit a quote.   They quoted a 2022 Ford Expedition SSB.  The manufacturer’s suggested retail price was $54,320 and the City of Plymouth price was $43,490.  Oliver Ford offered $10,000 for a 1998 International trade-in bringing the net price to $33,490.

Chief Holm’s recommendation was to accept the only quote which was well within the budget and move forward with it.

The Board of Public Works and Safety approved after the bid is reviewed by the City Attorney.
