The Plymouth gymnastics team traveled to LaPorte ahead of an impending storm on Tuesday, Feb. 1, and returned home with a victory.  The Pilgrims defeated LaPorte by a score of 98.25 to 95.05.  Gymnasts from New Prairie, Munster, Morgan Township, and Westville also competed at the meet.

Leading the way for Plymouth was the one-two punch of senior Dorothy Karris and junior Tessa Hutchinson.  Karris was first on the balance beam, 3rd on the bars, and 3rd in the all-around.  Hutchinson was 2nd on vault, 3rd on the floor, and tied for 1st in the all-around.  Also scoring valuable points for Plymouth were Taytem Saylor on bars and beam and Susie Everett on vault and floor.  Additional competitors for the Pilgrims were Kasi Harner, Joy Everett, Lilly Hinderlider, Piper Frank, and Paris Maddox.

After battling injury and illness for much of the season, Plymouth gymnasts have been rounding into form with victories in their last two meets.  Next up for the Pilgrims will be the Lakeland Invitational in LaGrange on Saturday, Feb. 5.  This meet is considered a sectional preview as all the teams that Plymouth will face at next months sectional will compete.
